Scientific Seminar on the Occasion of the International Day for the Prevention of Violent Extremism


On the occasion of the International Day for the Prevention of Violent Extremism, and under the patronage of Professor Dr. Mushtaq Talib Al-Nida, President of University of Anbar, the College of Islamic Sciences, in partnership with center for strategic studies  and the Sub-committee for combating violent extremism leading to terrorism in Anbar, organized a scholarly seminar entitled:

“The Role of the University of Anbar in Preventing Extremism and Radicalization.”

The seminar was held on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in Imam Abu Hanifa Al-Nu‘man Hall (may Allah have mercy upon him).

This event was part of the University’s ongoing commitment to promoting moderation and intellectual balance, fostering constructive and informed dialogue, and addressing extremist ideologies through rigorous academic research and specialized scholarly approaches.

The seminar featured presentations by Professor Dr. Khalid Amir Ubaid and Assistant Professor Dr. Abduljabbar Hamid Saleh from the College of Islamic Sciences, alongside Dr. Tariq Hamid Mahmoud, Director of the center for strategic studies.The session was moderated by Professor Dr. Takleef Latif

Discussions highlighted the responsibility of academic institutions in developing critical intellectual awareness, emphasized the importance of preventive research programs, and explored strategies for enhancing academic collaboration to address the root causes of extremism and curb its proliferation. These initiatives were framed as key measures for safeguarding society and fostering a culture rooted in moderation and balance.
