University of Anbar President, Professor Mushtaq Talib Al-Nida, together with Dr. Tareq Hamid Mahmoud, Director of the Center for Strategic Studies, welcomed the Swiss Ambassador to Iraq, Mr. Daniel Hunn, and his accompanying delegation during an official visit aimed at strengthening academic, scientific, and cultural collaboration between both parties.
The visit featured an official reception held at Professor Naji Tawfiq Hall, attended by university council members, security officials, faculty members, and researchers.
During the meeting, the University President expressed his appreciation for the ambassador’s visit, reaffirming the university’s commitment to building stronger partnerships with international academic institutions and expanding scientific and cultural cooperation to support academic excellence and research development.
The Swiss Ambassador, in turn, expressed his admiration for the university’s academic and scientific progress, commending its contribution to scientific research and community service. He also highlighted Switzerland’s interest in enhancing cooperation with Iraqi universities, particularly in higher education, research, and cultural exchange initiatives.
Discussions between the two sides focused on future avenues of cooperation, including academic exchange, joint scientific conferences and workshops, as well as training and capacity-building programs for students and researchers.
As part of the visit, Dr. Tareq Hamid Mahmoud delivered a lecture titled “Iraq’s Strategy in Managing Diversity and Promoting Peaceful Coexistence,” addressing the major foundations and challenges associated with fostering social harmony and stability.
The visit concluded with an open discussion session on mechanisms for strengthening collaboration between University of Anbar and Swiss institutions in academic, research, and cultural fields, with the aim of promoting academic partnerships and the exchange of expertise.
