Under the patronage of the President of the University of Anbar, Professor Dr. Mushtaq Talib Al-Nida, the Center for Strategic Studies, in collaboration with the Center for Continuing Education, organized a training course titled “Sustainable Development Goals and Developing Researcher Skills”, held from February 24 to 26, 2026.

The course sought to promote a deeper understanding of sustainable development goals, demonstrate how they can be incorporated into academic research, and build researchers’ capacity to produce rigorous studies that meet recognized academic standards, thereby improving the quality of the university’s scholarly output.

The program was structured around three main topics:
1.The foundations of the Sustainable Development Goals and their relevance at both international and national levels.
2.Enhancing research competencies, including analytical methods and research design.
3.Exploring ways to align academic research with development priorities and sustainability challenges.

A group of experienced faculty members delivered the lectures:
-Dr. Tareq Hamid Mahmoud, Director of the Center for Strategic Studies.
-Assistant Prof. Dr. Moataz Ismail Khalaf, Head of the Department of Strategic Planning and Public Policy.
-Dr. Omar Hamid Shukr from the College of Political Science.
-Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Dawood Mousa from the Center for Strategic Studies.
-Assistant Professor Dr. Huthaifa Adil Abdulkarim, Head of the Department of Security and Social Studies.

At the end of the course, the organizers stressed the importance of continuing such training programs due to their role in strengthening research skills and supporting the university’s contribution to sustainable development at both the local and national levels
